Clearspring has announced a major release designed to make it easier to share content via its Launchpad product – a sharing menu that displays a menu of destination sites (e.g. Facebook, MySpace, Blogger, etc.) to where content can be posted
Previously, the sharing menu was one size fits all. Any user clicking “share” on a Clearspring powered widget was shown a static menu of destination websites to choose from.
The newest release adds some brains into the mix. Clearspring’s network determines which destination site a user is most likely to share content to based on historical sharing preferences, and orders the share menu accordingly. For example, if a user consistently shares content to Hi5, Hi5 would appear first on the sharing menu on Clearspring powered widgets seen by that user.
If we’ve learned anything about widgets over the last few years, it’s that the devil is in the details. Little things like this matter, and no doubt Clearspring has tested this exhaustively.
(note: this smart ordering of menu has been offered for a while by AddToAny)
On the metrics front, Clearspring’s recent acquisition of AddThis has paid immediate dividends in terms of Clearspring’s reach. The most recent Comscore report shows Clearspring reaching 254M unique visitors in September, more than 90M ahead of its nearest competitor Gigya (who recently switched CEOs.)
Congratulations to Hooman Radfar and Clearspring on the new release and huge Comscore numbers.
