I’ve written extensively on this blog about the widget platforms. Musestorm, Clearspring, Snipperoo, and Widgetbox all exist to help you publish, distribute, and track your widgets, and each of them has a lot to offer.
But I have yet to see as a widget distribution tool as simple and easy as Gigya’s Wildfire service.
Gigya has built one click distribution tools for the following social networks:
- MySpace
- Hi5
- Friendster
- Xanga
- LiveJournal
- FreeWebs
- Facebook
- Blogger
- Tagged
- TypePad
- BlackPlanet
Now here’s what’s interesting about Gigya. They are not hosting your widget. To integrate Gigya tools, you don’t have to upload your .swf file into Gigya – all you have to do is to copy and paste some JavaScript into the page where you are providing your users with your embed code.
Basically, you just tell Gigya where on the page the embed code is located, and they provide a wrapper with one click add functionality to the big aggregators.
So one really simple implementation looks like this – your widget’s embed code, with the Gigya distribution buttons right below it.
This implementation took us about 15 minutes.
Simple. Easy. No trusting your widget load times to third parties. I really love this service.
My only complaint so far is that using the Blogger or TypePad tools send the widget to a post, as opposed to a sidebar – but I would imagine that there’s a way to change this setting via the Gigya API.
Rumor has it that the Gigya guys are working on a Flash distribution tool that will enable widget to widget distribution.
No wonder why 6 out of the top ten dentists Comscore widget publishers, recommend Gigya.

I am amazed at the press that gigya is getting for a component that other widget platforms (yourminis, clearspring, widgetbox) have had for a long time. Additionally at yourminis we publish to more destinations (including start pages and the desktop)..
The gigya component may be simple to implement on your site but what it lacks is the ability to allow someone who sees your widget on an external site to copy that widget to one of their supported sites right from within the widget. You are forced to go back to the originating site which is a sub-optimal user experience.
In addition you do not get advanced reporting when you integrate their syndication code. Reporting and widget management are critical in understanding your widget distribution.
Finally, you would probably get better widget performance on a 3rd party platform, such as yourminis or clearspring since we both have a highly scalable architecture and global caching networks specifically optimized for widget performance (probably a little more advanced than most widget developers would have on their own).

I would like to point the incorrect data in the previous comment. First, Gigya does provide real time analytics to help measure and optimize your widget initiative. Second, starting later this week, Gigya will have the option for quick posting from within the widget.
Gigya has a smart & simple solution that was adopted by hundreds of widget sites, including 6 out of the top 10 Comscore reported widget sites.
In this emerging industry, we hope that widget service providers will work together to set up industry standards and raise awareness for widgets, and will spend less time on criticizing successful competing services using incorrect and incomplete data.

I have tried all of the above platforms as well, from a developer's viewpoint the easiest service to pick-up right away and use was Clearspring's http://www.clearspring.com . It took 30 seconds to register, and it was very intuitive. Additionally, their Launchpad service is really advanced as far as ease of use for viral distribution.

Maintenant, voici ce qui est intéressant à propos gigya. Ils sont pas d'hébergement de votre widget. D'intégrer les outils Gigya, vous ne devez pas télécharger votre fichier.
